Large Handturned Pine Bowl with Blue Epoxy Inlay

Handturned from a single massive piece of pine salvaged locally, this large centerpiece bowl is part of an evolving series exploring repair, imperfection, and the natural movement of wood. During turning, the bowl fractured along several natural stress lines. Rather than discard the piece, the cracks were stabilized and highlighted with blue epoxy inlay — allowing the history of the wood to remain visible and become part of the final design. The result is a bowl that feels both strong and organic, with soft flowing grain, visible knots, natural checking, and a striking river-like blue line running through the form. This bowl is as much sculptural art as it is functional craftsmanship.
